Stellar times are always part of the menu at Olivio Italian Cuisine.Just to the north of Chaweng, Olivio Italian Cuisine is a little oasis that many holidaymakers love to come back to time and time again. The restaurant, open from early morning till late at night, offers a magnificent variety of food and drink, and still more too, though we’ll come to that later.

Olivio is part of Baan Haad Ngam Boutique Resort & Villas, a get-away destination that’s perched on a hillside over the sea, and is completed by intimate chalets, beautiful gardens and an exceptionally caring staff. The restaurant is an added asset, but you certainly don’t need to be staying at the resort to partake of all its goodness.

Walk through the lush surrounds of the resort and you’ll come to Olivio, situated right by the water. Dine in the contemporary air-con dining room, deliciously cool on those hot, hot days that make Samui so indolent, or sit out on the terrace. By day, gaze out to the tiny islands just tantalizingly off-shore, and the dreamy view of the ocean. Come at night and you’ll see the coast to the south, garlanded with the lights of villas and resorts.

Either way, enjoy the mesmerizing vista. The location, by the way, is the quieter, though no less scenic, part of Chaweng – think crowd-free, relaxed and just generally idyllic.

Olivio has been open since 2003, and has an excellent reputation. It’s lost none of its appeal over time, always keeping things vibrant. Guests love the casual feel of the restaurant, and tuck into some of the most professional Italian food around. For many it’s their go-to choice for a rounded menu that is all about freshness,Stellar times are always part of the menu at Olivio Italian Cuisine. quality ingredients and the dedication to create appealing top quality food. Insiders know that corners here are never cut. The chef and his team make their own gnocchi, ravioli and fettuccini, and even though the resort that Olivio serves isn’t so big, Olivio has its very own bakery.

And naturally that comes handy when it’s breakfast time. Breakfast here is particularly good, so much so that many guests come in from outside to enjoy it. You’ll find it served from 6:30 am until 10:30 am, and there’s an entire spectrum of delicious possibilities with both Asian and international foods on offer. You’ll see a generous buffet which includes a selection of cheeses and cold cuts, different kinds of bread, cereals and so on. There’s also a chef who’s on hand to make your eggs any style you’d like. Olivio naturally offers all the drinks to go with this amazing repast. There are even slow-pressed fruit and vegetable juices to be had; simply feed your choice into the juicer,Stellar times are always part of the menu at Olivio Italian Cuisine. and in seconds you’ll have a drink that’s brimming with health.

Lunch consists of everything from salads, pizzas, sandwiches and burgers through to a range of exquisitely-prepared Thai dishes that cover the nation’s favourite foods.

You don’t need to come for a full meal by the way, as there are plenty of snacks on offer and you’re certainly welcome to just drop in for coffee or a drink. There’s also a gloriously long happy hour from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm, when you can indulge in cocktails, beers and non-alcoholic drinks on a two-for-one basis. Olivio is an ideal place to sit with drink in hand and soak up the atmosphere of this laid-back stretch of coast.

If you’re in a romantic mood you can enjoy Olivio’s ‘Private Romantic Dinner’, where you can dine on the beach itself or close by. Choose between a trio of menus focused on Italian, European or Thai cuisine, and be served at a private table that’s decorated with flowers and candles. Book a day ahead for this option, and let staff know if there’s anything else you would really like to include.

Guests love Olivio for its great food and drink, but equally because they don’t need to hold their breath while the bill comes – everything is very reasonably priced and is great value for money. Delighting its guests for well over a decade, Olivio is definitely a top spot on the island when it comes to eating Italian.
